The meeting, described by Chinese economist David Daokui Li as “historical,” marked a shift toward treating China as an “equal partner” in bilateral discussions. While the one-year trade truce did not resolve deeper economic tensions, Treyz noted that the progress could help stabilize U.S. farm exports in the near term.
